Dc Fandome 2021

We've received brief glimpses to this point of Dwayne Johnson in his impending role as anti-hero Black Adam, most notably in the trailer that debuted at DC FanDome 2021. But a new Total Film cover story offers our clearest look yet at Johnson in the new role, and he looks... a lot like Dwayne Johnson.

The new cover is a smoldering close-up of Johnson in the familiar Black Adam hood, his eyes aglow as he glowers at the camera. Simple, but effective.

“You’re right.

Superheroes don’t kill bad people.

But I do.” ~ #BlackAdam

The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is changing.

I’m pumped to share with you 🌎 our new @TotalFilm subscriber cover.

Johnson promoted the cover by tweeting the Black Adam quote, "You're right. Superheroes don't kill bad people. But I do."

Johnson is both producing and starring in Black Adam, which was first announced back in 2017. In the DC FanDome trailer, Black Adam is shown descending in a bolt of lightning and reducing a hapless shoulder to dust, though his face is never shown.

In the comics, Black Adam is an ancient Egyptian predecessor to Captain Marvel. In recent years he's been portrayed as an antihero attempting to clear his name and reputation.

Black Adam: Who's Who in the Cast

While we don't know much about Black Adam, we do know that it will have a "very high kill count." We also know that he will take on the Justice Society of America at some point.

The Total Film cover drops on December 9, which will presumably provide lots more info. The film is currently slated to release on July 9.
